This Thanksgiving was wonderful (as usual), surrounded by loving family and friends. For the past five years it’s been a tradition to host Thanksgiving at my parent’s house, where we invite over thirty of our closest guests. Each year, I am the main chef in charge, preparing days in advance and eager to try out new recipes (this year was Shepherd’s Pie).
I purchased this lace dress from Zara in Istanbul and it proved to be the perfect Thanksgiving attire.

With the cold weather here to stay, I am immediately drawn to layering to keep warm. What I love most about layering is the ability to mix prints and still maintain a polished look.

My trip to Istanbul was truly fascinating. The city reminded me of a mix of the Middle East and Europe. The people, the food, the history, and of course the shopping far exceeded my expectations. Adventures in the Bazaar, constant negotiating, and daily doses of fresh squeezed pomegranate juice made the trip all the more exciting.
Since it would be nearly impossible to share with you all 500 of my photos, I chose a few of my favorite ones to share.
I leave for Istanbul today and I couldn’t be more excited! Looking forward to a week full of new adventures, bazaar shopping, and eating delicious Turkish food. I hope to post some pics while I’m in Istanbul, so be sure to follow me on Twitter for the latest on HF4L in Turkey!

Lastnight I celebrated the launch of Refinery29 in DC! The party took place at the Madewell store in Georgetown (if you haven’t been, you must go). I had an amazing time and was blown away by how many fashionable locals gathered together in one place to celebrate! It was also great to see some familiar faces and meet new ones. I am so thrilled that Refinery29 now has a DC presence and look forward to more amazing fashion events in the future.
Following the event, I hopped over to Zara with fellow bloggers Caitlin and Meg for a mini shopping excursion.

In my book, sweater dresses are perfect for day, night, and everything in between. They are simple, easy, and can be accessorized with cool tights, leggings, and even a scarf. I purchased this H&M dress a few months back and was so excited to finally wear it!
This past weekend I dug out my old UGG vest that’s been in my closet for quite a few years. It’s still still a staple and keeps me warm on chilly weekend mornings. I love how it looks layered with comfy knits and autumn tones.

Since early this year, I have been highly intrigued with the leather sleeve trend. I’ve seen it on trenches, wool coats, sweaters and even on cargo vests! H&M is having an amazing sale on their coats now (50% off), so be sure to check out their leather sleeved options.
Today’s Wishlist Wednesday item (last one seen here) is Zara’s Party Peep Toe Pump! While I was at Zara yesterday, I tried on these beauties but sadly they didn’t have my size. I think the name suits the pump fairly accurately, as they are the perfect PARTY shoe. What do you all think?
