Mixing Textures

One of my favorite things about winter has always been layering (last seen here). When it comes to layering, I also love mixing various textures like wool, leather, fur, and suede. This combination of texture and color is exactly what I will be mixing up this winter.

Style Challenge #1: Statement Clutch

As many of you already know, I am a participant on ABC Family’s Jane by Design Style Challenge. For the first challenge we were given $50 to purchase whatever we liked. With the $50 I decided to invest in a statement piece, like this beautiful Anthropologie sequins clutch.

It found it on sale earlier this week and was completely surprised by the affordable price tag of $42. Rather than spending funds on a bunch of smaller priced items, I decided to buy something that would last and remain versatile and classic. This clutch is the perfect accessory for any upcoming holiday party, wedding, or even New Years.

Holiday Sparkle

Lastnight I attended Blogger Night Out (BNO) in Chevy Chase, planned by the lovey Caitlin and Erika. The event was a huge success with tons of networking, giveaways, champagne, and delicious cupcakes. It was so great to catch up with old friends and meet new ones.

ABC Family: Jane By Design Style Challenge

Earlier this week, I was asked to participate in ABC Family’s Jane By Design Style Challenge. Jane by Design is a new series premiering on January 3rd about a teenager who lands a job at Donovan Decker, a hip fashion company. You can read more details about show here.

This Monday, I received a giant trunk with a body form and numerous objects, which are all part of seven style challenges. For the next three weeks, leading up to the premiere I will be taking on various style challenges and need your help. Part of the contest is engaging readers so I need you to cheer me on and participate!

For the first challenge, I was given a $50 gift card by ABC Family and tasked to go shopping! Next, I will have to post a video of my shopping haul and impress Donovan Decker with my originality to move on to the next challenge. Stay tuned friends….lot’s of fun videos of me coming your way!

Thigh-Highs

Since I am not a huge fan of tights, I am always looking for alternative options during cold DC winter days. When I spotted these thigh-high socks at J. Crew, I was immediately drawn to them. I love that they can give any outfit a slightly dressed up effect, while still maintaining class and warmth.

Furry Dots

Ever since last year, I have had a near obsession with polka dots. To add some texture to my dots, I paired it with my new Mango fur vest, which is yet another amazing Istanbul purchase.

On another note, I am off to NYC today for a quick business trip. I have lots to squeeze in, so wish me luck!

Seeing Spots

This Mango dress if by far my favorite purchase from Istanbul. It has been on my wish list for some time now and was sold out at all Mango stores in the US. The polka dot sleeves and soft cotton make it both stylish and comfortable for a night out on the town.
