Happiness at Home

Here are a few things around the house that are currently making me happy. Sometimes it’s nice to pause and take a moment to recognize the small things that brighten your day.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Georgetown CB2 Recap

A few weeks ago I was invited to preview CB2′s Fall inventory at their Georgetown location. I was so excited to meet other DC bloggers and also have the opportunity to sit in on one of the Apartment Therapy DIY workshops. I love how the Georgetown store is set up, all the vibrant Fall colors and unique displays serve as great inspriation for upcoming design ideas. Enjoy!

Something New: Ghelims Rugs

This past weekend my cousin surprised me with this lovely Persian Ghelim Rug from Iran. He knew I had been in the market for one so he traveled to the bazaar and bought me the perfect one!  What’s so amazing about this rug is that it contains natural dyes from fruits like pomegranate. I couldn’t be happier with his rug choice, I am in love with the color and it compliments my dining room decor.

Colin Cowie: Shadow Highball Glasses

Last week I spotted these lovely Colin Cowie drinking glasses on The Glamourai! Since I’m not a fan of having to always refill my short drinking glasses from Ikea (I drink lots and lots of water) I thought they would be the perfect buy, not to mention they were on sale! I got them in the mail yesterday and they are AWESOME.  Not only do they look cool but they are the perfect size and of great quality.  I highly recommend them.

Sadly, they are currently sold out of this specific size but there are some other great styles available.

Hope you all are having a great Thursday:)

Antiquing in Kensington

On Sunday I made my first visit to Antique Row in Kensington, Maryland. The purpose of my shopping trip was to find my long beloved Louis XV bed, which I wrote about here.  Unfortunately, I didn’t have any luck finding a similar bed but instead I came home with a hand-made bench (everything in the store was 50% off) for my rustic dining room table. I have always envisioned having bench seating on one side of the dining table, which serves as a great way to saves space and allow for a clear view of outside.

What do you think?

Louis XV

The next big purchase for my home is going to be a bed! Currently, my queen size bed sits on an old metal bed-frame which tends to roll down when I’m sitting back and leaning against the wall. After some careful research of which style would look best in my room I’ve decided that it has to be bed similar to the one below, a French Style Louis XV bed from the 1930′s. There are a few good sources online but I think my best bet is to visit some local antique stores in Kensington.

What do you think of the bed? Any suggestions on where I could find a similar one? Have a great weekend!

Patterned Prints

This past weekend I stopped by my favorite Home Goods store to check out their new inventory. I was initially looking for a bench for my dining room table when I unexpectedly saw this lovely patterned chair. I immediately fell in love with the fabric and knew it had to come home with me!  My previous chair shown here and below blended in too much with my dark flooring, so a burst of color was needed.

Which chair do you like better?

Ikea Rens Sheepskin

A few weeks back I spotted these Sheepskin throws from Ikea. At $24.99 each, I immediately put them in my cart and I could not wait to see how they would look with my new dining room chairs.

What do you lovely readers think of the look?
