Misikko Hairdryer Review
Recently, I had the opportunity to try the HANAair Professional Hair Dryer from Misikko. When the box arrived I was pleasantly surprised with the lovely packaging and all the goodies (hair products, fast drying hair towel, and a thermal pouch for the dryer) that came with the dryer.
Before you read any further, I must tell you that I am no novice when it comes to hair dryers. For about ten years, I have owned an Elchim dryer, an expensive and powerful dryer. I was honestly not hopeful that anything could top the power and efficiency of an Elchim. Well, I was definitely wrong. The Misikko definitely tops it. It has cut my drying time in half and gives me a smooth and silky finish each time, with no need for a flat iron.
I know it’s a little pricey, but I am a firm believer in investing in your hair, especially with a product that has rave reviews and comes with a good warranty.

Red Hue Boutique: Beauty in Bloom
This past Friday, I attended Red Hue Boutique’s beauty in bloom fashion show with the lovely Ashley and Rosa. I had heard several great things about the local boutique, which ended up being every bit fabulous. I highly recommend making a visit, especially if you’re in the market for some (affordable) bright threads for spring.

{Designer & Owner Silvia Huezo}
Overall, the night was filled with great company, bright floral prints, and ski high stilettos.

Weekend Bling
Last weekend I purchased this lovely bracelet and earring set from Lohemann’s. I was immediately drawn to the rustic rocker vibe of these jewels, which reminded me a lot of some Dannijo pieces. The total set was under $30 (a huge shock to me), and well worth it!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend. Mine is going to be jam packed with fashion shows (Beauty in Bloom), dinner with friends, birthday parties, and even a baby shower.
xx,

Blogger Confession: Ask yourself…
A couple weeks back, a few local bloggers and I started a fun and intimate series (last seen here) called Blogger Confessions. Through Blogger Confessions we hope to capture the multifaceted lives that many bloggers live in, but sometimes is not highlighted in our blogs. This month’s topic: relationships.
{image via}
When it comes to relationships I honestly feel like I have a PhD. Of course, I am no expert but over the years (and countless advice from the women in my life) I have definitely learned what has and hasn’t worked for me. That is why when I recently read Kyle Richards’ book, Life Is Not A Reality Show (yes, it’s actually possible to like a reality star’s book as a guilty pleasure), I immediately connected to her Do’s and Don’t of relationships. Since I am a big fan of her book and already live by almost all her relationship standards, I thought it would be fun to share with you a few of her “ruthlessly honest” questions* to ask yourself when dating:
- What is his relationship like with his mother? (We’re looking for respect and kindness here – close but not too close).
- Does he obviously check out other women while he is with you? (Not only is this sleazy and disrespectful; it betrays a certain shallowness that is totally unappealing. Some people may disagree – oh well).
- What are his friends like? (Let’s hope they’re wonderful, sweet, honest men who are good to the women in their lives).
- How does he get along with his family?
- How does he treat animals? (A guy that usually has a pet, you can assume he has at least some capacity for emotion and sensitivity).
I hope these questions make you realize (to a certain degree) what kind of man/relationship you deserve and remember…never settle. The best advice my mom ever gave me was “it’s better to be alone, than to be with the wrong person”.
Check out what other DC bloggers are confessing to today at Julip Made, Web Haute Jas, The You Finder, and Apollinas.

Hugh & Crye Event Recap
Cocktails and fancy fitted shirts equals the “dapper gentleman” of Hugh & Crye. The DC-based men’s apparel company, takes a modern day approach to fitting men’s shirts, which guarantee the exact fit for your body type, without the costly expense of a tailor. Recently, I was lucky enough to meet them in person (Pranav Vora and Philip Soriano) and celebrate the awesomeness of their tailored shirts with the lovely Katalina (who hosted the event) from The You Finder and Cap Fabb!

I also had a great time chatting with Apollina, Ally, Liz, Lacey, Ashley and more!

Affordable Style: India de Beaufort
As you lovely readers recall, I was participating in Jane By Design’s Style Blogger Challenge (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7). There is still no word on the winner (fingers crossed) but I was happy to see this video in my inbox yesterday, a response to a style question I had asked India de Beaufort, who plays India Jourdain, the sexy and devious villain on ABC Family’s Jane by Design!

Target Finds
Every time I visit Target, whether it’s to buy some juice or stock up on paper towels, I end up leaving the store with things I had no intention of buying in the first place. While there yesterday (to return some Jason Wu purchases), I couldn’t resist purchasing this adorable striped clutch ($16.99), which is the perfect nautical touch to any spring outfit.
I also completed my Revlon Lip Butter pink collection (a favorite of Lara, Nicole, and Rosa) and bought a dainty floral scarf.

Ann Taylor Spring Neons
This spring Ann Taylor has really upped their game, especially by embracing neon colors. A few weeks ago I spotted magazine ads with Kate Hudson as their new brand ambassador, sporting hip neon and fuchsia accessories. I have had my eye on a few key pieces (neon necklaces), which are set to be released just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Some of the accessories remind me a lot of Spike The Punch necklaces, and I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am since I FINALLY was able to get my hands on one during Superbowl half time (they sell out in minutes after being posted)!
Hope you’re Monday is off to a fashionable start!

Lately
I love giving my readers a recap of my weekend, which most often includes spending time with family, new purchases, and sometimes even decor changes around my home (last seen here and here).
This past weekend was very relaxing. I didn’t have any set plans and enjoyed every minute of it! I enjoyed the beautiful weather, played with my adorable nieces, cooked with family, read (started hunger games), and of course did some shopping.
1. Layering my necklaces on my Donovan Decker body form 2. Vintage Ralph Lauren blazer with pretty gold button details ($7) 3. Dainty polka-dot blouse from TJ Maxx 4. Seeing double, Vince Camuto Bailey Platform 5. Pretty Home Goods foot stool for those hard to reach places 6. My adorable niece Ayla, at almost 4 months

*Blogger Confessions: I have three jobs…
{getting ready before a 9:30 club show this past weekend}
Those of you that know me personally, know that I am one busy girl! For those of you who don’t know me, it’s time to confess. Aside from being a fashion blogger, I am an environmental consultant, part-time grad student and licensed real estate agent. Often people ask me, how do you do it all? How do you manage all this and still make time for blogging? The truth is, you make time in your life for the things you are most passionate about. Not only does this mantra apply to my professional career, but it is something I have always lived by in my relationships. If someone wasn’t giving me the attention I deserved, I knew it wasn’t meant to be because you make time for the things that matter most.
As a 9-to-5 consultant, I work on helping agencies become more sustainable. I provide them with the knowledge and tools they need to protect the environment and conserve resources. As a real estate agent, I help friends and family purchase or sell their home. I have always had a love for real estate and since there aren’t an abundance of agents you can trust, I deem it my duty to be an honest and reliable source for one of the biggest purchases one will make in their life. And last but not least, as a part-time grad student I will have my MBA by March. Hooray!
Over the last few years, blogging has been the perfect creative outlet for me. It has inspired me to decorate my new home, share tips on affordable fashion, and most importantly it has connected me to amazing new friends or blogger bffs as I like to call them. Not only do I have something to confess today, but so do my blogger bffs. They too make time for blogging given their professional careers.
