Oversized Tees with Free People

Oversized tees have always been a favorite of mine. They are loose, comfortable, and look great with a pair of ripped jeans and some heels. As you already know, I am a huge fan of Free People. They have such an amazing selection of oversized tshirts, like the one I am wearing below. Throw on a jacket or blazer and you are good to go.

Marshalls Spring Trend Video

A few weeks back, I traveled to New York City to film the Marshalls spring trend video. I had such a blast getting glammed up and spending the whole day filming and shooting some amazing Marshalls trends, including the ever so classy ladylike trend (featured below). Now I can finally share the video with all you lovely readers. I have never shared a video of myself on the blog so this does make me a little nervous. I hope you enjoy it (or have a good laugh) and get some good tips on how to shop Marshalls trends next time you’re at the store!

Last Friday, I met up with handbag designer  Danielle DiFerdinando at Cusp in Georgetown to preview her new line and chat over sweet treats and coffee. Danielle is one of the sweetest people I have ever met, which makes me love her handbag collection even more! Her handbags are super stylish and affordable so be sure to check out her new collection for Cusp here.

Open Back Dresses + A Collaboration

I immediately fell in love with the print and jersey knit fabric of this bodycon dress from Urban Outfitters. The open back and outrageously comfortable fit were the added bonus. Also, it’s time for my new favorite cobalt blue heels from Nordstrom to make their debut on the blog. Aren’t they just the perfect pop of color? And you know I only wear comfy heels – bravo Via Spiga!

If you haven’t already, be sure to check  out Luv AJ’s collaboration with Bauble Bar (last seen here). I just received these earrings in the mail and they are the perfect dose of edgy. Drooling over the collar necklace and ID bracelet too!

Marshalls Style: How to Wear Nude

It’s time to share my sixth (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and final Marshalls Style spring trend (nude accessories) with you lovely readers. We all know how versatile nude accessories can be. A pair of sandals, sunglasses, or even a nude clutch can be the perfect way to tone down an outfit.

Marshalls’ shoe department has so many great nude options this season. I especially love these laced nude sandals, which are SO comfortable.  Adding neutral toned accessories to your outfit really adds a touch of elegance. Here are four quick and easy tips on how to add nude to your outfit this spring:

  1. Pair nude accessories with bright wardrobe pieces. If you’re wearing a nude shoe or purse, brighten the outfit with a bold blazer or trouser.
  2. Add hints of gold. I love the way nude categories look with gold accents.
  3. Wear a bright lip. When wearing nude accessories it’s nice to add bright makeup like a red or pink lipstick.
  4. Pick the right nude shade for you. There are so many shades of nude that it’s important to pick a shade you are comfortable wearing. Weather its warm or cold tones; pick a tone that matches your skin color.

Also, don’t forget, it’s your last chance to win a $50 gift card to Marshalls by submitting your favorite Marshalls find using the #FabFound hashtag via Instagram or Twitter (so easy!).

Tadashi Shoji Interview

Last week I had the pleasure of interviewing Tadashi Shoji, a true fashion legend and inspiration. The Japanese-born, American-based fashion designer is widely known for designing exquisite evening gowns for Hollywood’s biggest stars like Octavia Spencer and Florence Welch. It was one of the most exciting (yet nerve wrecking) moments I have ever experienced in the four years of having my blog. What made this interview so special to me was that Tadashi was my very FIRST runway fashion show at New York Fashion Week.

{Mr. Shoji and I – We totally match!}

 The interview took place at Marymount University where Mr. Shoji was awarded the very prestigious Designer of the Year award. Past award recipients include Oscar de la Renta, Diane Von Furstenberg, and Michael Kors (just to name a few). What made this event so memorable was that Tadashi is celebrating the big 3-0 of the iconic brand this year. To celebrate his anniversary, he has designed a capsule collection of six dresses from his archives, which style blogger Chriselle Lim of The Chriselle Factor debuted (see here).

 {exquisite Tadashi gown details at the event}

 {delicious event menu}

Since, I was one of the very last interviews of the evening, I wanted to make sure I was not repeating any questions that he may have been asked earlier. I could spend hours and hours talking to Mr. Shoji about fashion and his sources of inspiration over the years, or what advice he had for bloggers like myself, but I thought I would share just a few of my favorite questions/responses:

(High Fashion 4 Less): I have seen that Tadashi has been very active in various social media outlets like Vine and Instagram. What are your thoughts on engaging consumers through social media?
(Mr. Shoji): “Social media apps like Vine and Instagram have an immediate response. They don’t cost much and you can engage your consumers right away! It’s important to make consumers feel like they connected with your brand and your designs.”

(High Fashion 4 Less): I’ve noticed a common Russian Empire theme in several of your collections. Why Russia?
(Mr. Shoji): I pull my inspiration from everywhere but mostly from my travels. Whether I am at a flea market and see a beautiful table cloth or a picture in a magazine, there is no really rhyme or reason behind it. It’s something that is beautiful and that inspires me to design.”

(High Fashion 4 Less): What advice do you have for bloggers like myself who are blogging for fun but one day may have hopes of turning their blog into a business?
(Mr. Shoji): “Invest in a team of your own. All the big bloggers out there have a whole team behind them. If you are serious about making it into a business put everything you have into it and hire people that can help you expand your business and make it flourish.”

Oh…and one question I forgot to ask Mr. Shoji…Will you design my wedding gown?? :)

A BIG thanks to Zeba for setting this interview up and making a fashion dream of mine come true! Also, stay tuned because you just might be seeing me style a Tadashi accessory on the blog very soon!

Marshalls Style: Woven Tops

I have so many woven tops in my closet. From silk to chambray, they are always my go-to when it comes to getting dressed in the morning. Paired some ripped jeans or tailored trousers, woven tops are super versatile and easy to style.

{Blouse thanks to Marshalls}

I immediately fell in love with the cut-out detailing of this woven top from Marshalls. The cut-out shoulders and collar tip detail give it an edgy look that can also be transitioned from day to night. Oh, and did I mention that the black and white color combo make this woven top even more amazing? I decided to pair this top with some bright accents like a yellow clutch and fun palm leaf printed shoes to give it an extra pop. What’s your secret to styling woven tops?

How To Wear A Camo Jacket

It didn’t take me long to cave in and fall hard for the camo trend. I bought this camouflage shirt from Zara last season and have easily transitioned it into my new favorite spring staple jacket.

{Zara Camo Shirt (similar). H&M Jeans. F21 Top. Dolce Vita Boots. Madewell Purse (love this!). Karen Walker Sunglasses (similar). Melody Ehsani Diamond Cage Ring}
all photos by Natalie

The camo trend can sometimes  be tricky to pull off so here are some quick and easy tips on how to wear a camo jacket:

1.  Don’t break the bank with this trend. Check out Zara, H&M, F21 or even the thrift store for some great budget finds.

2. Don’t be afraid to mix prints and textures. Camo looks great with polka dots and lace.

3. Add some romantic touches by wearing it with pink or white.

4. Glam it up with some sparkling accessories like a chunky rhinestone necklace or try a DIY and add some studs to the shoulders.

5. Pair it with your favorite ripped jeans and a white tank for a comfortable yet edgy look.
Hope you’re Monday is off to a great start!
